Non‑Emergency Patient Transport

Safe, Planned Journeys for Everyday Care

Non‑emergency patient transport is for people who are medically stable but need extra support to travel safely to and from healthcare appointments. It is different from a 999 ambulance and focuses on comfort, dignity and reliable arrival times rather than emergency treatment. Advanced Flourish Transportation provides planned, door‑to‑door journeys so that distance, mobility or anxiety do not become barriers to getting the care you need.

Advanced Flourish Transportation provides safe, compassionate and person‑centred non‑emergency transport for children, young people and adults who need more than a standard taxi service. Our trained teams and accessible vehicles support planned journeys to hospitals, clinics, care homes, community services and important family events across Medway and surrounding parts of Kent.

Non‑Emergency Patient Transport

Who we work with

We work directly with individuals and families as well as NHS services, local authorities, Integrated Care Boards, care homes, supported living providers and case managers. Our approach reflects national expectations for NEPTS providers, giving commissioners and professionals confidence in safety, governance and consistency while giving families reassurance and clear communication.

If you are unsure which service you need, our team can guide you through the options and recommend the most appropriate support for your journey.

Who This Service Is For

This service is ideal for children, young people and adults who cannot safely use public transport, taxis or private cars because of mobility, medical or cognitive needs. Many of the people we support live with long‑term conditions, frailty, learning disabilities, autism or mental health needs and benefit from trained staff, accessible vehicles and extra time for transfers.

You may benefit from non‑emergency patient transport if:

  • You need help walking, climbing steps or transferring to and from a vehicle.
  • You use a wheelchair or require assistance to remain seated safely during travel.
  • You experience severe anxiety, confusion or distress when travelling alone.
  • Your clinical team has advised that you should not travel independently.

Types of Journeys We Cover

Every journey is planned around your appointment time, location and individual needs, following good practice for non‑emergency patient transport routes and schedules. Typical journeys include:

  • Hospital outpatient and specialist clinic appointments.
  • GP, diagnostic, therapy and community health visits.
  • Day case procedures and investigations.
  • Planned admissions and discharges.
  • Transfers between hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation units and community services.

If you are unsure whether your journey is suitable, our team can talk it through and recommend the best option.

What to Expect on the Day

Our aim is to make your journey as calm and predictable as possible. National guidance emphasises the importance of clear communication and unhurried transfers in non‑emergency transport, and we reflect that in our practice. On the day of travel, you can expect:

  • A friendly call or message if we need to confirm any last‑minute details.
  • Arrival of a clearly marked patient transport vehicle with trained staff.
  • Assistance from your front door or agreed pick‑up point to the vehicle.
  • Support with seatbelts, wheelchair securing and safe positioning.
  • A calm, unhurried journey with staff on hand to help if you feel unwell or anxious.
  • A safe handover at the destination, including support with check‑in where appropriate.

How to Book

You can request non‑emergency patient transport directly through our Book a Journey page or by calling our bookings line. For some NHS‑funded journeys, your hospital, GP or local authority may need to confirm eligibility based on national criteria, and we can coordinate with them where required.

If you are arranging private transport, we will simply ask you for:

  • Date, time and location of your appointment.
  • Pick‑up and drop‑off addresses.
  • Mobility and medical needs.
  • Whether an escort will travel with you.

Our team will then provide a quote and confirm the details of your journey.
